Cheeka Cheeka BOOM THROUGH LIFE!
The Luscious Memoir of a Daring Brazilian Woman

For every woman who is ready to live and love her best life ever

The woman's passion for life is contagious! She magnetizes leaders and all who are ready to step into their power and take MASSIVE ACTION. She might scare away the timid of heart, who are still hiding out from who they really are, and aren't ready for change quite yet. Man, as many of us are, I fell into both categories. We were totally attracted to each other at the Bradley Communications Million Dollar Authors Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, July, 2005. Here we were, at this pre-conference cocktail party with all these wonderful creative writers, agents and publishers, many of whom were dressed in understated chic "literary black." And here Lygya was, standing out in the crowd in her outrageously jazzy Carmen Miranda dress of many wild colors with a smile that lit up the room, all ready to party! We don't have a clue yet what kind of a party this petite Brazilian chick is inviting us to, but it sure looks like a good time.

"I do have fun!" she says. "It's my ice cream in the summer. My life is orgasmic! Every day is a wonderful new experience, no matter what. Thinking that way, I can have a kick out of everything, know what I mean?"

She's divine. She sucks you in with the promise of the party, then, before you know what's happening, she's challenging you to grow. To wit:

"Mardeene, want to know what my first impression was of you?"

"Gulp. I'm not sure, 'cuz this woman sees more than most people see."

"My impression of you was that you are very conservative, even though you were dressed in glossy silver. And you were sweet as watermelon. I loved you, thought you were great-this sweetheart of a person to everyone. We wanted to talk, talk, talk, you can't stop eating this sweet watermelon. The more you eat, the more you want. Also, your whole body expression was of this nice, understanding, but very, very well-behaved American business woman agent."

(Raised in the Army, what do you expect?) "I've never been called a watermelon woman."

"It has nothing to do with the form (laugh), just the taste. But the watermelon has a whole hard green cover, with the sweet red inside. Get what I'm telling you?"

See what I mean?! "Yeah, the hard exterior doesn't show what's inside."

"Right. People see Mardeene but they don't see the little girl and the wild woman inside. And that's what we want to bring out! That's what I'd like to bring out in everybody!"

"Whew. You speak the truth."

"Always."

And that's what this book is going to be about, taking off our "grown-up" masks so the little girls and the little boys can come out and play.

To get to that place herself, the amazingly determined Capricorn climbed mountains when all the odds were stacked against her. She was a poverty-stricken Latin/Black raised in the Rio ghetto of a 3rd World country, homeless, struggling with her momma to stay alive after her father abandoned them. A little kid who only wanted to dance, but was told forget it-dancing's only for rich people. A little girl who felt she was an ugly duckling--too dark to be Latin, too light to be black-- in a country where the women outnumber the men 7 to 1 and the competition is tough, baby. In a world where the odds were way stacked against her, she raised herself up from the bottom to stardom, relying upon guts, determination and her inner instincts, developed to a very high degree. She brought Carnaval to New York City! She couldn't find much Carnaval here, so she BECAME Carnaval with her nonprofit Roots of Brazil entertainment company. She loves America for she says it gave her the opportunity to become who she is.

At the peak of her career when the World Trade Center there came crashing down around her, she had the vision and saw the signs. It was an invitation to leave the past behind and give up ways that were no longer working for her. The theatre where her dance company was a resident company was at Ground 0. A very sensitive intuitive, she felt the people there who died didn't know what happened. It became a city of ghosts! She was feeling their pain of not knowing, crying, crying, sending reiki energy to Ground 0 for nine days. She was going to leave her successful company after 18 years of dance and leave the old life and never look back. She didn't have to do it all alone anymore. She would get in touch with women-goddesses-all over the world. She led the way out of the darkness. She went to healers to heal herself, then healed others with her certified trainings and with her innate Amazonian shamanic skills. She knew she wanted to coach on a higher level and decided she wanted to join the famous Anthony Robbins and she did, helping thousands become unstoppable.

She's still living in New York City at the moment, globe-trotting with the Tony Robbins himself in all his live "Unleash the Power Within" famous seminars.

As a healer, intuitive life coach and mentor, she was discovering she had the vision that enabled her to see the best of Brazil and the best of America and to help people integrate those qualities successfully. She loves the Brazilians' creative right-brain way of laughing and partying and fantasizing and really enjoying life emotionally, no matter how poor they are! She brings that sense of fun and Carnival state of mind to workaholic Americans who contain their emotions and don't let their hair down. She loves the Americans' analytical left-brain way of focusing to achieve their goals, which taught her how to succeed as an entrepreneur with her own nonprofit company. She'll be taking these valuable business skills to her party-loving escapist friends in her country. She was ready to write books. That's where we came in.

Later on, as we began to work together, I discovered she herself is a beautiful integrated human being, combining the best of both worlds--receptive feminine allure with the dynamic successful out-in-the-world traditionally masculine qualities. She laughs a lot, which makes me laugh a lot! She says Brazilians need at least one good laugh from the belly a day. We all want to come to the Lygya Maya party! I also discovered from this natural-born coach that you always get the in-your-face-unabashed Truth. She pulls no punches, she challenges you to stretch. She says "People don't pay me big money to coddle them and allow them to stay in their comfort zone. It drives me crazy if I see who you really are and you are avoiding it!" Trust me, she does SEE who you really are. Without your mask. That is extraordinary vision. It is at once comforting to be known on that deep level, and disconcerting if you want to resist change. And I went in, thinking it was I who was the coach. :) Now I knew how my writing coaching clients must have felt from time to time. I realized the coaching may have been going deeper than just the editing they were expecting. I may have been stepping over the line at times to encourage them to change their life to create the ending they wanted to their own story! If you aren't ready for that, you run away. If you are up to the challenge, you hang in there and stretch and feel exhilaration. I trust the process with Lygya. Even though she is tough, she loves you so much. She WANTS you to be your very best self. She is a fabulous role model for courage to change. Working with her is taking me to higher places on so many levels-mentally, emotionally, and physically with right action in the real world. She doesn't let you just hang out in the comfy realm of fantasy and dreaming. She inspires you to action!

Keep track on Lygya's websites--www.lygyamaya.com and www.asklygya.com and soon-to-be www.abrazilianwomanssecrets.com --for the launch of her moving book about her personal story of success, about publishing contracts, about events coming up and teleseminars and tools and secrets to inspire you to action. We invite you to hop on the dance floor of life with us and salsa and stretch your limbs, expand your courage and your boundaries. Trust me, we're still working on it too. But with Lygya, the Brazilian Firecracker of the new millennium, it is play! It becomes fun. And fast! Join us in creating the joy of making life a Carnival--without going all the way to Rio.
